Abstract: Port Infrastructure and Nautical Tourism: A Problem to Solve on a Regional Scale
This paper focuses on the situation of marinas in Italy. After an initial section aimed at clarifying defi nitions and delimitation of the concept of nautical tourism, it examines the situation of marinas in Italy, with emphasis on the regional differentiation. The paper confi rms that the Italian context is characterised by a general shortage in terms of infrastructures, even compared to other European cases. The original contribution of the paper is the method for the calculation of catchment areas, which can provide a new approach for public policy regarding marinas.
