Paesaggio e sviluppo delle Cinque Terre: come erano e come appaiono nella narrazione cinematografica
Il lavoro che viene qui presentato ha come obiettivo prioritario quello di ricostruire la presenza delle Cinque Terre nella produzione visuale degli ultimi ottant’anni. In tale prospettiva, il contributo restituisce introduttivamente una sintetica rassegna dei principali avvenimenti storici impegnanti il suddetto territorio. Per le immagini filmiche ci si è avvalsi di numerose testimonianze d’archivio o reperibili tramite la rete. Questo territorio ligure, conosciuto per la sua bellezza suggestiva, è stato variamente rappresentato nel tempo con intenti e strumenti diversi. Se dapprima l’attenzione della cinepresa è rivolta a cogliere le particolari condizioni di vita legate all’ambiente costiero e al lavoro prevalentemente agricolo, in seguito l’attenzione è rivolta ad aspetti diversi sino ad arrivare alla recentissima pellicola d’animazione Luca. Ricostruire l’immaginario usato per rappresentare le Cinque Terre, partendo dai filmati dell’archivio dell’Istituto Luce sino al recente
film d’animazione prodotto da Pixar Animation Studio, permette di comprendere meglio la relazione tra immagine, identità e territorio.
Landscape and the Development of the Cinque Terre, Then and Now in Filmography
The main aim of this work is to reconstruct the Cinque Terre chronologically and visually over a period of the past eighty years. This contribution contains a brief review of the main historical events in the area. For the video images, archival evidence has been gathered from the Internet. This part of Liguria, which has become extremely popular as a beauty spot, has been historically represented with different intentions and using various methods, all showing how the area, and people’s perception of it, has changed. If, at first the camera was focused on capturing particular living and agricultural conditions related to this coastal environment, then its lens turned to different aspects, as seen in the recent Disney film Luca. By reconstructing the images used to represent the Cinque Terre, starting from the footage of the Istituto Luce up to an animated movie from Pixar Animation Studio, we can better understand the changing relationship between images, identity, and territory.
