Retoriche della transizione dall’industria al turismo. Impatti ambientali e landscape grabbing nel sud-est della Sicilia
L’articolo interviene sul dibattito teorico sul landscape & tourism-related grabbing attraverso l’analisi dell’evoluzione territoriale del sud-est siciliano, dove sia le politiche postbelliche di industrializzazione sia alcuni interventi postindustriali del comparto turistico hanno eroso porzioni di paesaggio e sottratto risorse e diritti alla popolazione locale. Attraverso un’analisi multi-metodo, viene argomentato che gli apparati retorici utilizzati all’epoca dei primi insediamenti industriali si sono sedimentati in archetipi ancora in uso per legittimare i più recenti interventi «green» sul territorio, basati sul turismo. Di detti interventi, in un paradigma interpretativo alla Harvey, si valutano le conseguenze in termini di espropriazione e accaparramento dei diritti al paesaggio e all’accesso alla costa come bene comune.
Rhetoric of the Transition from Industry to Tourism. Environmental Impacts and Landscape grabbing in Southeastern Sicily
The paper takes part in the theoretical debate on landscape & tourism-related grabbing through an analysis of the territorial evolution of south-eastern Sicily, where both post-war industrialisation policies and some post-industrial interventions in the tourism sector have eroded parts of the landscape and taken away resources and rights from the local population. Through a multi-method analysis, it is argued that the rhetorical apparatuses used at the time of the first industrial settlements have settled into archetypes still in use to legitimise the more recent «green» tourism-led interventions on the territory. Within an interpretative framework inspired by Harvey, the work evaluates the consequences of the above-mentioned actions in terms of expropriation/grabbing of the right to the landscape and the access to the coast as a common good.
Rhétorique du passage de l’industrie au tourisme. Impacts environnementaux et accaparement du paysage dans le sud-est de la Sicile
L’article vise à contribuer au débat théorique sur le landscape & tourism-related grabbing à travers l’analyse de l’évolution territoriale du sud-est sicilien, où les politiques d’industrialisation d’après-guerre et certaines stratégies post-industrielles trainées par le tourisme ont en train de saper des portions de paysage et, donc, ont privé la population locale de ressources et droits. A travers une analyse multi-méthodes, on souligne comment les rhétoriques en soutien de l’industrie lourde se sont installés dans des archétypes encore en usage pour légitimer les interventions « vertes » les plus récentes, basées sur le tourisme. On évalue, donc, les conséquences de ces interventions, dans un paradigme interprétatif à la Harvey, en termes d’expropriation et d’accaparement des droits au paysage et d’accès au littoral comme bien commun.
