Le terme di Acireale e Sciacca tra degrado e prospettive di sviluppo
La Sicilia possiede un patrimonio termale di indiscusso valore. Tra i balnea localizzati nell’isola, due vantano una tradizione più antica e importante: Acireale e Sciacca. Nonostante ciò, proprio mentre la domanda internazionale si orienta sempre più al wellness, le terme di Acireale e Sciacca sono chiuse al pubblico e in stato di abbandono. Il presente lavoro si pone l’obiettivo di indagare le cause di questo mancato sviluppo e individuare quelle attività progettuali che possano trasformare i centri termali di Acireale e Sciacca da risorse potenziali in reali punti di forza dei rispettivi sistemi turistici locali.
Abstract: The Thermal Baths of Acireale and Sciacca Between Decay and Perspectives of Development
Sicily has got a thermal heritage of undisputed value. Among all the balnea located in the island two have a deepest and most important tradition: Acireale and Sciacca. Nevertheless, just while the international demand is oriented to wellness, the thermal baths of Acireale and Sciacca are closed to public and abandoned. The present paper aims to investigate the causes of the decay and individualize projects that may give a major position in the tourist market to the thermal industry of the two centres.
Résumé: Les thermes d’Acireale et Sciacca entre décadence et perspectives de développement
La Sicile possède un patrimoine thermal d’une valeur incontestée. Parmi tous les balnea situés dans l’île, deux ont une tradition la plus profonde et la plus importante : Acireale et Sciacca. Néanmoins, alors que la demande internationale est orientée vers le bien-être, les thermes d’Acireale et de Sciacca sont fermées au public et abandonnées. Cet article vise à étudier les causes de la dégradation et à individualiser les projets susceptibles de donner une place majeure sur le marché touristique à l’industrie thermale de ces deux centres.
