Abstract: Port Development and Coastal Region Use Competition. The Case of Leghorn

This article considers the recent development of the port of Leghorn and the new initiatives that have been planned and implemented in order to improve the competitiveness of the regional transport system. Moreover, it focuses on the changing port-city relationship, according to new waterfront redevelopment plans. Finally, it takes into consideration the increasing competition between transport infrastructures and other coastal uses.
