The fish market of Ortigia between change and tradition
The fish market of Ortigia (Syracuse) is one of the most picturesque and typical historical markets of Sicily. Its origins date back to the first half of the Nineteenth century. From then its history has been marked by many vicissitudes. Today the “Piscaria” has become at the same time an attraction for the tourists who come to visit Syracuse and a place where the local identity is still very strong. A place where people meet not only to trade and deal, but also to consolidate their bonds of belongi,ng to their city.
